Former SC judge Madan B Lokur, Former Delhi HC judge A.P. Shah , and Senior journalist N.Ram, On 9th may, 2024, Sent an invitation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi for a public debate. As both the political Parties leaders during the election campaign and public addresses, members of both the BJP, and the Congress, have asked important questions relating to the core of constitutional democracy, And severe allegations were made by both the parties against each other.
Congress president raise the question to the prime minister on electoral bonds and the government response over China. Also, the mutilation of Constitution whereas , Prime Minister publicly challenged the Congress on reservations article 370 and wealth distribution.
For all these allegations, in order to bring a clarity for The public, that who is right and wrong, whether the allegations are true in nature or not, for all these questions, public debate has been called by the former judges.

As per the Latest update, Rahul Gandhi on 10th of May ,2024 , wrote a letter in reply of the invitation for debate, in the letter he stated “ I have discussed your invitation with Congress president, Shri Mallikarjun Karge ji. We agree that such a debate will help people understand our respective visions and enable them to make an informed choice. It is also critical to put to rest any unsubstantiated, allegations attributed to our respective parties. As the principal parties fighting the election, the public deserve to hear from their leaders directly. Accordingly, either myself or Congress president would be pleased to participate in such a debate”.
Further he added, please do let us know if and when the prime minister agrees to participate, following which we can discuss the details and format of the debate.
